This expedition is not a commercial product. It is an open invitation to take part in a shared story of human connection. We are looking for partners who want to move beyond traditional sponsorship and become founding supporters of a journey defined by kindness, curiosity and tangible grassroots change.

What this is, before you give anything

This is not a registered charity and it does not claim to be. It is one man walking, funded by the people who want to see him do it. Contributions are not tax deductible and carry no Gift Aid. If you would rather give to a registered charity, please do, and Leon would still love you to follow the walk.

The examples above are what Leon has seen these amounts do on the road, not a fixed programme or a promise about any particular child or school. What your money actually paid for is written up in the kindness ledger, with the date, the place and the cost.

Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card details. You may cancel within 14 days and ask for a refund by emailing us. Recurring support can be changed or stopped at any time from the link in your confirmation email, and we will remind you before each renewal.

What it means to sponsor a walk across Africa

Leon is walking 16,720km on foot through 25 countries, and doing something useful in every place he stops. Backing it pays for two things at once: keeping him walking, and the act of kindness he leaves behind. Every one of those is written up in the kindness ledger with the place and the cost, so support an expedition here and you can see exactly where it went. The route shows the countries, and Leon's story explains why he is doing it.

Where your money goes

Support here does two things. It keeps Leon walking, covering visas, food, kit and the occasional bed for the night. And it pays for an act of kindness in every place he passes through.

Every one of those acts is recorded below with the date, the place and what it cost, so you can see exactly what your money did. The ledger covers the kindness spending, not the cost of the walk itself.
