Every act of kindness paid for along the route is recorded here with the date, the place, the kilometre and what it cost. Nothing is rounded up and nothing is left out.
Amounts shown are what was actually spent on the ground. This ledger records the kindness spending. It is not a full account of the cost of the walk.
Why the acts of kindness across Africa are logged
Anyone can say money reached the people it was meant for. This page is the proof: every act along the walking route across Africa is written down with the date, the place, the kilometre marker and the exact cost, whether that was a set of exercise books or a meal for a family. Nothing is rounded up and nothing is described in general terms.
What counts as an act of kindness across Africa
Nothing grand and nothing staged. School books, a bag of maize, a repaired tyre, a night's lodging for somebody who needed one, a round of drinks for a crew who fixed something. The test is whether it was useful to the person in front of him on the day, not whether it photographs well. Some entries are a few pounds. That is the point of writing all of them down.
Where the money comes from
From people who sponsor a walk across Africa rather than from any institution. If you have backed it, this is where you see what your money did. If you have not, the stories and the journal explain what the walk actually involves.
What this is
This is not a registered charity and it does not claim to be. It is one man walking, funded by the people who want to see him do it. Contributions are not tax deductible and carry no Gift Aid. If you would rather give to a registered charity, please do, and Leon would still love you to follow the walk.
